Ending Scenes
SimilaritiesThe endings of Frankenstein and Jurassic Park are similar because they both show the characters being freed from the "monsters". Also, both of the scenes allow the audience to see the separation from the characters and the monsters in a sense they both leave to go in their own direction and no longer have ties to the conflict as they solved it plot-wise. Both of the scenes also occur over water! The antagonists (dinosaurs and the monster) are both left alone as well. Lastly, both of the ending scenes kind of leave the viewer wanting more because (hopefully) the audience wants to know what happens after the crew leaves Jurassic Park (when Dr. Grant looks at the kids longingly and Dr. Sattler smiles at them) and what happens at the end of Walton’s journey in Frankenstein.

DifferencesThe differences in the ending scenes are as follows: in Jurassic Park, Mr. Hammond, the creator of the park is still alive while Victor dies in Frankenstein. Also, the monster mourns the death of his creator while the dinosaurs do not. The dinosaurs are left in paradise on the island while the monster is in agony. Where as most of the protagonists in Jurassic Park survive, most of the protagonists in Frankenstein die. Also, the ending scene in Frankenstein shows the process of Victor dying aboard a ship and then the monster feeling lost because of his death. Shelley gave the audience more insight into Frankenstein’s ending while Jurassic Park had more of an open ended ending in case they needed to make a Jurassic Park 2.
